Best places to eat / where the locals eat

The restaurant scene in Addis Ababa has become more vibrant over the past few years. Apart from the traditional Ethiopian dishes almost all of the restaurants offer internationally diverse dishes. There are many options for different kinds of tastes, from Italian to Chinese, Indian to French; you just have to pick your favorite. Or maybe you want to try the traditional dishes since it is the specialty indeed. In this case, there are places that do not only offer authentic Ethiopian dishes but also the cultural dances of different ethnic groups in Ethiopia. Yod Abyssinia, 2000 Habesha and Checheho restaurants are one of the traditional restaurants.

The other main thing is the vegetarian/vegan places. Most of the people in Ethiopia are vegans for religious purposes so obviously, there are a lot of vegan-friendly restaurants if not completely vegan. Also, almost every food places in Ethiopia are based locally and are supplied by the local farms which make the food completely organic and healthy. Price wise I would say every restaurant is affordable comparing to fine dining prices here in the states. Generally, variety, quality, and affordability come together in most of the restaurants in Ethiopia.
